Happy Birthday: Cochrane Family Photographer

Heather, Ken, and Finn, The Wonder-dog.  Two milestone birthdays and a 25th anniversary in the same month. What a cause for celebration! Heather found me thanks to a good friend of mine who was showing off Facebook photographs I had taken of my daughter over the year.  I should really pay Ophelia royalties as this has happened a few times now.
I asked Heather if she was game to meet early in the morning so that the mountains would be a crisp backdrop. She was and we originally intended to meet at 8 a.m.  (I love earlybirds!)
I know, I know but it's all about working with the beautiful sunrise!
Unfortunately the temperature had other plans in store for us. We still met at 9 a.m. at the Cochrane Ranch and most of the following shots were taken in -5C. Despite the cold temperature, these two were amazing to work with and posed beautifully.  Ken and Heather, you're a couple a' naturals. Happy Birthday; Happy Anniversary; and thank you for letting me take your picture.

Michael in the Middle: Calgary Family Photographer

Michael and his parents are a fun bunch with a tight family in the city. They also happen to be the ones who designed and built the house we are living in right now (so all those comments on our awesome master bath can go straight to Paul). Jen is a sincere person with a deep affection and bond with Michael, and I was charmed just watching them around the house together.
Congratulations on your expanding family; Michael is going to be a great big brother in the New Year! (And we all know what Malcolm Gladwell says about January babies...)

Love in the Dog Park: Calgary Family Dog Photographer

Sue and Jason are newlyweds who wanted relaxed, fun photos with their beautiful golden labs.  She's a charmer in front of the camera - making my job simple, just point them to the light and click away.
Speaking of light, it was perfect and a great example of why meeting 90 minutes before sundown is ideal. A great finish to a busy day (this was my third shoot and I literally ran to be on time for each one) and hard to believe that Calgary had three weeks of miserable weather prior!
Sue and Jay - thank you so much for a beer and dinner afterwards. I hope you enjoy your new life together.
